Responsible Forager Bag and App

Designed to solve the issue of overforaging and to help biodiversity thrive, this product helps to inform users of their impact on the environment when foraging for fruits and other foods in the outdoors.

When finding that over foraging is causing plants to not grown back and stopping animals from feeding on their produce I went forward with designing this product. The product allows users to track how much they are taking from an area by weight and add this to a data collection through the app. The data collection will then show users where is a thriving place to forage and where needs to be left to replenish.

I wanted to aim my product at millenials, as millenials are the sustainable generation. For this I looked at making my product more fashionable, following a current trend of clear accessories I opted for Meliflex, a sustainable substitution for PVC, to make my product clear. This also aided the function as a user can see how much they are foraging through the bag.

The bag is clear to allow the user to see how much they are picking, there is a section in the bag for the scale to be kept when not in use and an ajustable strap to allow the user to wear the bag across their body. The scale attached to the bag via the rings of the strap allowing the bag to fully suspend underneath for an accurate way to weigh the produce.
